Any of us that have ever been bridesmaids or been delegated as the “planner” of a bridal shower know how daunting it can be, BUT if you have a pro on your side, trust me, it makes all the difference in the world. At the Portola Hotel & Spa, a team of event professionals is ready to help plan an organized, memorable and most importantly fun bridal shower. Whether you’re looking for a sit down lunch in the private wine-themed room at Jacks Restaurant or an outdoor luncheon, the events team at the Portola is with you every step of the way! In fact, here are some tips from the pros, on the little touches that will establish you as the one and only, “hostess with the mostess”!
Design a Signature Cocktail
Think of something special that perhaps you and the bridal party all have in common or a special memory, and ask your Portola event coordinator to work with the Food & Beverage team to create something tasty and relevant! From an elegant champagne punch to a fruity sangria, design something unique and refreshing!

Fun Shower Games (yes, I said fun)
I recently found an article at MyWedding.com that changed my views on the torture of shower games. From “Mad Libs”, “Put a Ring on It” or “Gift Bingo”, these non-time consuming and non-cheesy games are perfectly sophisticated (and fast). You can read the article here.
Tie in the Bride’s Interests
Honor the Bride to Be with décor that matches her personality! If she’s outdoorsy and more of a nature girl decorate with succulents and natural fibers, playing up greens and subtle hints of light pinks and variations of whites. If she’s more of a city, sparkly girl, ask your Portola event coordinator for a list of local décor vendors that can provide chandeliers, lounge seating and other glittery accents like crystals, gold chargers and draped linens. For the gal that’s a world traveler, enlarge giant vintage postcards and use them as table accents or place cards – or even better, have a vintage suitcase on the gift table and postcards for guests to write sweet notes of inspiration, advice and love to the guest of honor.

Now, we all know how important the food is and of course dessert. Design a menu that not only is reflective of the bride’s taste, but is appealing to all your guests. The Food & Beverage team along with their Executive Chef at the Portola Hotel & Spa is open to creating delicious menus with personal accents. From locally sourced seafood to a small bites and delicious salads, and of course, sweet treats the possibilities are truly endless!
