Since I was a little girl, I have always loved the Fall season! From the smell of pumpkin pie to jumping on piles of crisp autumn leaves, this time of year for me symbolizes, family, fun and tradition. If you are looking for new ideas and new traditions for your family, here are a few activities I have experienced with my family that have turned into annual fall time adventures, with a Monterey Bay twist!
Explore the peaceful beauty and all things Fall at Earthbound Farm’s Farm Stand in Carmel Valley. Choose from a variety of organic artisan pumpkins, seasonal produce and fresh flowers at this Monterey Bay gem. With a variety of natural backdrops for family pictures and lots of activities for the kiddos, spend some time exploring all that Earthbound Farms has to offer. In addition, Earthbound features a variety of seasonal classes, seminars and events including Movies on the Lawn, Harvest Décor Days and Fall Fun Days.
Outdoor Forest Theater
As the sun begins to set a bit earlier and the days get shorter, our family always enjoys packing a picnic, grabbing some blankets and catching a live performance under the stars at the Forest Theater in Carmel-by-the-Sea. Set in a majestic grove of Pine Trees, enjoy hot spiced apple cider and a roaring fire as local thespians bring to life famous musicals and tales. Though not all productions are suitable for little ones, an evening out at the theater, also makes for a great date night + plus you can bring your own wine or a growler of craft beer from Peter B’s Brewpub!
Trick or Treating in Downtown Pacific Grove
Spend the day in “America’s Last Hometown” and get into the Halloween spirit during Downtown Pacific Grove’s charming, 5th Annual Trick or Treating event. FREE candy and goodies for ghosts and goblins of all ages. Just look for the pumpkins and ribbons in front of participating downtown businesses. In addition, the Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History, also in Downtown Pacific Grove will be hosting their annual spooky Science Saturday themed event highlighting, bats, spiders and snakes.
